Workshop on English theory and practices held

A one-day workshop on teaching English theory and practices was organised at Hindustan First grade college, JP Nagar, Mysuru, recently.

Prof K C Belliappa, former vice chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi Central University, Arunachal Pradesh, was the chief guest of the programme. He spoke about the importance of English in the present world and shared a few of his memories as an English lecturer.

Prof G Rajagopal, retired professor at English Language School, English and Foreign Language University (EFLU), Hyderabad was the resource person.

Introduction to ELT (English Language Teaching), the basic notion in LET was discussed in the first session. The second session of the workshop focused on the advanced skills. Spoken English, writing skills evaluation and feedback system were the other areas that were dealt during post-lunch sessions.  Around 60 participants from various colleges of Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Kollegal, Nanjangud, Ramanagar, HD Kote, Nagamangala, T Narasipura and Coimbatore participated in the sessions.

Prof G Rajagopal was felicitated by the management of EFLU during the valedictory session.

Lakshmi C R, Assistant Professor, department of Kannada, Nayan Hashmi, Assistant Professor, department of Commerce, Dr Sujatha Krishna Murthy, Principal, Chetan H, Vice principal, HFGC, Nagashri S, workshop coordinator and others were present.
