Mysuru, September 25:- A workshop on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 was organised at the office of IGP of southern ranges here on Monday. The workshop was held, as the month of September is being observed as a special drive on drug abuse month.
Police inspectors, CCB officials, staff, investigation assistants and others attended the workshop. They were trained by resource persons.
Mysuru city police have already appointed one lecturer from each college as police co-ordination officer (PCO) for drug abuse prevention. They also attended the workshop. They will be trained to understand how students become drug addicts, how to identify them and the effects of drug abuse.
Commissioner of Police, Dr A Subrahmanyeshwara Rao inaugurated the workshop. DCP Vishnuvardhan, Dr Vikram Amte, editor of Sadhvi newspaper, C Maheshwaran, Parashetty and others were present. (MR/KS).
