A workshop on ‘Recent trends in Mechatronics and Robotics’ was recently inaugurated in the city by Sanjaya Kumar V, Senior Application Specialist, Ranal Software Technologies
The workshop was organised by the Centre for Automation Technology, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIE, with an objective to provide hands-on experience for pre-final year UG students on the KUKA 6-Axis robot and the mechatronics facilities. On the occasion, Sanjaya Kumar took interactive sessions with the students, apprising them on the challenges to be faced in the robotics industry through many interesting working videos of the latest technology in robotics and automation.
It was later followed by parallel hands-on sessions on Mechatronics, KUKA Operation and programming for two batches of the participants. Prof Katti and Prof Rakesh M, coordinators of the workshop provided hands on training to the participants. Exercises on PLC and Arduino programming were carried out by over 30 participants who took part in the workshop.
Prof Shrinatha R Katti, coordinator of the workshop, provided the information about the centre for automation technology and briefed about the objectives and activities of this workshop.
Dr G L Shekar, Principal and CEO, NIE, presided over the function. Dr T Ananthapadmanabha, Principal, Dr M V Achutha, head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr T Jayaraju, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIE Institute of Technology were present.
