The Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIE, Mysuru, conducted one-day workshop on ‘Writing Proposal to Funding Agencies’, recently.
Dr D S Guru, Professor and Chairman, Department of Studies in Computer Science, University of Mysore, inaugurated the workshop. In his inaugural speech, Dr Guru highlighted effective ways of writing proposals which should reflect the capability as well as commitment of the principal investigator. Dr G S Suresh, Dean (Academic Affairs), NIE, presided over the inaugural function.
The objective of the workshop was to provide inputs to younger faculty members of NIE to write good quality proposals for research and development projects to elicit funding from leading funding organisations such as UGC, AICTE, DST.
During the technical session, Dr Guru spoke about the roles and deliverables of different stake holders and provided useful tips to the participants. Dr B K Sridhara, Professor and Chairman, Mechanical Engineering Division, NIE shared his experiences in writing proposals. He presented case study of a successful proposal and dwelt on the need to collect credible information, budgeting and presentation in a lucid manner. Participants were given an assignment to prepare a sample proposal.
As many as 40 faculty members across all departments of NIE attended the workshop.
