Mysuru, August 2:- The All-India Anglo-Indian Association (AIAIA), Mysuru branch celebrated World Anglo-Indian Day at St Philomena’s College (Autonomous) Auditorium in the city on Sunday last.
Rt Rev Dr K A William, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Mysuru, the guest of honour, along with Vinisha Nero, former Anglo-Indian MLA of Karnataka, honorary general secretary and governing body member of AIAIA, New Delhi; Rev Fr Bernard Prakash, Rector, St Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Bannimantap, Mysuru, Dorothy Fernandez, Irene Dove and Denver D’Cruz inaugurated the event.
The Bishop of Mysuru wished the community on World Anglo-Indian Day and lauded the services of the community in the field of education, nursing and the armed forces in the country. Rev Dr William was overjoyed to see two of his teachers present among the audience.
The Bishop of Mysuru and Vinisha Nero were felicitated by members of the association. A video documentary prepared by Stephanie Lewis featuring all the stalwarts of the AIAIA, Mysuru branch was screened on the occasion. Carmel Ellis anchored the programme.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of AIAIA, Mysuru branch, was held earlier in the day. Vinisha Nero was the chief guest.
Budding football player, Serena Rodrigues, was felicitated on the occasion for her participation in the Under-17 KVS National Subroto Cup Football Tournament held at Dehradun and lifting the winner’s trophy.
A new executive committee comprising Charles Lewis – president; Alistair Rodrigues and Joy Dove – vice presidents; Crezvel Coates, secretary; Michelle Rodrigues – joint secretary; Norbert Brown, Caroline Daly, Anthony Smith and Dr Lester Nunes – committee members were installed.
