Mysuru, June 3:- “Heritage city is attracting people in the changing scenario. Mysuru silk, betel leaf, brinjal, sandal, Mysuru Palace, Mysore Pak, Chamundi Hills, Kukkarahalli Lake, Karanji Lake, Mysuru Zoo (Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens) and heritage buildings are the major identities of the city. It is our responsibility to keep the city clean, green and healthy. For that, laksha vruksha campaign has been undertaken,” said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader H V Rajeev at a press meet held at Hasiru Mysuru organisation near Dalavayi Lake in the city on Wednesday.
“Rajiv Sneha Balaga, Mysuru District Journalists’ Association (MDJA) and SKDRDP are jointly organising World Environment Day on June 5. On that occasion, 15,000 saplings will be planted. This initiative is being held for the past two years and we have an action plan for 7 years,” he said.
“It is our aim to make Mysuru green city. During our earlier events, seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev, Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda seer and others graced the occasion. District in-charge Minister S T Somashekar will lead the initiative this year,” he added.
