Mysuru, June 07:- The department of Health System Management Studies, Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara university organized World Environment Day celebration in their department.
Dr M S Hemanth Kumar, State Consultant and Member, Healthcare Waste Management Cell, Dept. of Health and Family Welfare, Managing Director, Aquachem Pvt. Ltd was the chief guest for the occasion.
Dr B Suresh Vice Chancellor, JSS University presided the function, Dr PA Kushalappa, Director Academics was the guest of honour. The programme was inaugurated by the dignitaries by planting of saplings and lighting of the lamp.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Kushalappa expressed the need for conservation of environment for the future. Chief guest for the function Dr Hemanth Kumar in his speech mentioned the reason for celebration of World Environment Day and the significance of the same.
He also told about the reasons for environmental pollution and how to prevent them for the conserving the nature. He said that biomedical waste management is a significant factor in causing ozone layer depletion and hence segregation and proper disposal is very essential. Dr B Suresh in his presidential address spoke on environmental day celebration and said that it is every citizen’s responsibility to take care of the environment more so for the health and wellbeing of everyone.
He said that Greek Goddess Gaia is the ancestral mother of all life and we should protect mother earth by taking prophylactic measures in preventing pollution. Conservation of forest and use of alternate forms of energy has to be in built within the system. A Sepcial talk on topic “Biomedical Waste Management in healthcare and its impact on environment” by Dr Hemanth Kumar was held after the inaugural function.
Dr HK Mamatha, coordinator, faculty and students, Dept. of HSMS coordinated the function.
