Mysuru, November 8:- Academy of Pediatrics is organising one day workshop to mark the World Pneumonia Day on November 12.
Addressing a press meet in the city on Wednesday pediatrician of JSS Hospital Narayanappa said, “A child dies in every 2 minutes in the country due to pneumonia. Over 2.22 lakh children are dying of pneumonia. 20% of the deaths of babies are due to the disease. Treating infants suffering from pneumonia is a financial problem for families. It is also affecting the health system of the country. Central government has introduced vaccine under Universal immunization programme to curb pneumonia. This has to be developed further.”
“In this context a workshop for doctors has been organised in the city to mark world pneumonia day,” he added.
Sudha Rudrappa of Cheluvamba hospital, Dr Rajendra, Dr Gireesh G, Dr Shivu P and others were present. (KMR)
