Writers should be like clear water for the society: Dr OL Nagabhushan Swamy

Mysuru, December 16:- “The sharanas proposed the concept of democracy in the 12th century itself. But if we look at the present society, everything looks contaminated. In such situations, writers should act as wells of clear waters for the society to remove the stains in the society,” said writer Dr OL Nagabhushan Swamy.

He was speaking at Jayadeva Sharana award distribution programme at Rajendra Bhavan of JSS Hospital premises here on Sunday.

“People are fed up with the present political scenario. Mutts following the ideologies of sharanas appear as a ray of hope for them. Lingayat mutts are contributing to the development of the society,” he added.

Seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur Mutt appreciated Sharana Sahitya Parishat for upholding the values of Sharana culture.

Senior well-known writers Dr Latha Rajashekar and Dr Basavaraj Kalgudi were honoured with Shakuntala Jayadeva Sharana award.

President of Sharana Sahitya Parishath Appa Rao Akkoni, Dr Shakuntala Jayadeva, Dr Jyothi Shankar, M Chandrashekhar, Jaya Gowda, Shivanna M Vakkar and others were present. (MR/KS)
