With 200 MLAs, out of 224 in a strength of 403 in the House supporting chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, the intervention of Azam Khan brokering the peace was only the fig leaf of excuse that Mulayam Singh Yadav needed to reverse his decision to expel his son and cousin Ramgopal to extricate himself from a tight spot. Of course, it is not as if the political situation would become normal again as sharing of seats may prove extremely contentious since both Akhilesh and Mulayam have already announced their candidates. One thing appears beyond doubt that Akhilesh appears to be hugely popular with the youth of both sexes. This would mean that electoral battle between Ahilesh and BJP led by charismatic Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be now the main focus in the ensuing Assembly elections in UP. The verdict of election has a potential to rewrite history to control supremacy of political power. Vice president of the Congress, Rahul Gandhi will fade from the political scene.
