Yalandur Town Panchayat’s  surprise winners

The Congress candidate Ningaraju  and BJP candidate Bheemappa were the surprise winners in the election held for Town Panchayat’s President and Vice president,  recently.

Nagaratna Mahesh of first ward was the official candidate from the Congress , which includes five members and Mahadevamma Chikkarangaiah of tenth ward was the  BJP nominee.

There were totally 12 votes including one vote of the MLA and 11 members of the Town Panchayat’s members and among them,  Ningaraju got 8 votes and Nagaratna secured 4 votes respectively. And for the vice-president election, BJP’s Bhimappa got 8 votes and Congress’ Mahadevamma Chikkarangaiah secured 4 votes.

Those who voted for the Congress’ winner are Congress’s B. Ravi and BJP members Y V Muruli krishna, Bheemappa, Jyothi Sreenivas, Nagaraju, JDS member Y G Shilpa Ranganath, independent candidate J Nagaraj and those who voted for Nagaratna, who lost the election, are Y V  Uma Shankar, Mahadevamma Chikkarangaiah, MLA S Jayanna.

Accordingly, for Vice President’s election, those who voted for  BJP’s winner Bhimappa included B Ravi, Ningaraju, BJP, Y V Muralikrishna, Bheemappa, Jyothi Srinivas, Nagaraju, JDS member Y G Shilpa Ranganath and independent candidate J Srinivas. For Mahadevamma who lost the election, Y V Uma Shankar, Nagaratna, MLA  S Jayanna cast their votes. And the winner was declared by the Tahasildar K Chandra Mouli.

This election process gained momentum as the two party members of the Congress voted against their own party members and BJP’s candidates voted for Ningaraju. The turn of events showed all is not well within Congress.
