Yoga expert Pushpa Iyengar has urged people to perform yoga to keep anxiety, depression and other problems at bay. She was speaking after inaugurating ‘Yoga Bhushana’ award presentation ceremony organised by Himalaya Foundation and Mysore Yoga School at Rotary Auditorium on Saturday.
“In this fast moving society, every day, we are exposed to various kinds of stress. The word depression has become common at this point of time. Practicing Yoga is necessary to come out of stress and depression. Along with academics, Yoga should be given importance in schools so that it helps every child build a stable mind and they will not become a victim to any kind of stress,” she added.
On occasion, as many as nine Yoga practitioners Nanda Kumar, T Sampath, Ramesh, R K Parvathamma, B Bhavani, Vinaya Shantharam, Santhosh Kumar, T N Shashikumar and Vijay Yoga Kumar were presented with Yoga Bhushana award.
Mysore Yoga Samsthe Vice President Yoga Prakash, former District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal, Vivekananda Yoga Education and Research Centre Founder Dr P N Ganesh Kumar, Social worker K Raghuram and others were present.
