Mysuru, March 6:- “In the present world which is full of extreme pressure, yoga helps one to overcome it,” opined the vice-president of Mysuru Zilla Panchayat Dr Gowramma Somashekar.
She was speaking after inaugurating the two-day Yoga workshop for high school physical education teachers at a private hotel in the city on Thursday.
“Yoga has been a special art in our ancient culture. Most of the people were practising yoga then. Then the health was in a very good condition. But now, due to excessive use of machines, there is no work for physical strength. It is also causing mental pressure. That the life is so mechanical that people have stopped practising yoga,” she said.
“Practising yoga every day for a limited period of time helps one remain healthy both physically and mentally. Physical education teachers should make sure that students practice yoga at schools,” she said.
Deputy Mayor C Sridhar inaugurated the workshop.
Health officer of AYUSH Dr B S Seethalakshmi, administrative officer Shivanandaiah, corporator Ravindra, more than 50 physical education teachers were present. (MR/KS)
