Mysuru, June 10:- Rehearsal in view of the World Yoga Day on June 21 was held at the premises of Mysuru Palace on Sunday.
Hundreds of yoga enthusiasts took part in the event. District administration and Yoga Federation of Mysuru organised the rehearsal. As the district administration has decided to not apply for Guinness record, the rehearsal received a poor turnout.
In 2017, around 55,506 people participated in the event which was held in the city and created a record, but it was broken in 2018 after 1,00,984 people participated in the event held at Kota in Rajasthan.
Various organisations were looking to set another record this year. But the district administration decided not to contest for the record this time. Many yoga exponents did not turn up after the district administration backed out from its earlier decision. Being a Sunday, many thought the number of people would be more and it was not the case.
District In-charge Minister GT Devegowda had told that attempt for Guinness record will be made in 2020 by trying to make more than one lakh people attend the event. He said that the central government employees in the city perform yoga separately and said he would request them to be part of the event to be hosted by the district administration.
The next rehearsal will be held at the Mysuru Race Course on June 16. The district administration is hoping the attendance will improve. (MR/KS)
