Mysuru, December 26:-Authorities of Sri Yoganarasimhaswamy temple will be distributing over two lakh laddus on January 1 to herald the New Year.
Addressing a press meet in the city on Tuesday, the temple authority members said that the distribution of laddus will begin at 4:00 am and will go on till midnight 12:00 am. Administrative officer of the temple, N Srinivasan said, “A total of 5000 laddus weighing 1.5 kg each and two lakh laddus weighing 100 gm each are being prepared this year. It will be distributed among devotees and visitors irrespective of caste, creed or religion. Special puja will begin from 04:00 am on the New Year day and special offerings and abhishekhas will be held for the presiding deity on the occasion. Tomale has been brought from the Sriranga temple and swarnapushpa sahasranamarchane will be done to lord Yoganarasimhaswamy.”
“The Utsava murthy of the temple, Sri Malayappana Swamy, Padmavathi and lord Mahalakshmi will be taken for Utsava and Ekadashaka Prakarotsava will be held,” he added.
The laddus are being prepared in hygienic conditions in the temple and around fifty quintals of gram flour, 100 quintals of sugar, 4000 litres of oil, 100kg cashew, 100 kg of resin, 100 kg of almond nuts, 50 kg of diamond sugar, 500 kg boora sugar, 10 kg of pista, 20 kg of cardamom, 20 kg of jakai and japatre, five kg of pache karpoora and 50 kg of cloves are being used.
The temple authorities started the practice of distributing Tirupati-style ladoos on New Year day in 1994.
