Youth in coma, doctor’s negligence alleged

A 22-year-old man who was supposed to undergo kidney operation has slipped into coma allegedly due to the doctor’s negligence while administering the local anaesthesia.

The incident which occurred at the Holdsworth Memorial Hospital (popularly known as Mission Hospital) in city has come to light following a complaint lodged by the family members of the youth at Mandi Police Station.

Manjuswamy, a native of Kelasuru in Chamarajanagar district, who was suffering from kidney ailments, was allegedly administered an overdose of local anaesthesia by Dr Somashekar following which the patient went into coma.

Acoording to doctor, the condition of Manjuswamy is critical and his recovery is doubtful.
