“Youths are the future of our nation. Hence they should be responsible and determined to secure good education,” said Co-founder of Infosys Technologies Limited N R Narayanamurthy on Sunday.
Speaking at the inauguration of t the School of Electrical Sciences at National Institute of Engineering (NIE) he recalled his college days and said that he studied with scholarship and his mother used to always urge him to study well as the scholarship money was that of tax payers.
Further he said that he never missed classes in four years of study here and on rare occasion he was the only student to attend the classes.
He advised students to not bunk classes, be responsible and study well. After reaching a stage we need to contribute towards the betterment of the college.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme Suttur seer Shivaratri Deshikendra Swami said, “Science should be assimilated with religion for intellectual development and society’s growth. If religion and science does not go hand in hand it is incomplete. Religion is not superstition instead it helps in the overall growth of the personality. Technology is developing fast, educational institutions be it government or private should be equipped with new technologies for quality education.”
The N R Narayana Murthy School of Electrical Sciences is named after its distinguished alumnus N R Narayanamurthy. It is a four-storey building comprising 6,570-sqmtrs of built- in area, and has been constructed at a cost of Rs 13.5 crore. 19 Laboratories, 10 class rooms, 3 tutorials and project rooms are equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment and furniture. It was built with the motto of imparting quality education, training, research in the field of electronics and communication engineering and its allied subjects. N R Narayana Murthy who is an alumnus of the institution and contributed Rs five crore towards the project.
NIE Group of Institutions President Srinath Batni, Vice-President N Ramanuja, Secretary S K Lakshminarayana, Principal G L Shekar and others were present.
