Yuva Sambhrama culminates with a grand adieu

The six-day Yuva Sambhrama drew to a close at Open Air Theatre in Manasagangothri on Wednesday with students presenting a meaningful dance-drama on patriotism, sending a message on social harmony.

About 100 colleges from Mysuru and nearby district vied for the honours to get   a chance to perform at Yuva Dasara, which begins on October 3 at Maharaja’s College grounds. Each day the participants were given various themes such as water conservation, nature conservation and women empowerment.

On the final day, the programme set a wave of patriotism which swept the audience. Majority of the skits were based on patriotism and social harmony. Students danced to the popular Kannada songs like ‘Vishwa Vinuthana Vidya Chethana Sarva Hrudaya Samskari Jaya Bhaarathi’, ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Hacchevu Kannadada Deepa’, Ee Kannada mannanu maribeda o abhimani’ and so on.

Government Girls First Grade College students presented a dance drama on Dr B R Ambedkar, while the performance by Bharatheeya Vidyalaya from Hassan and Social Welfare Department hostel students attracted the crowd.

Students of K R Nagar First Grade College through their performance to the song ‘Hindustanavu endu mareyada Bharatha rathnavu neenagu’ paid tribute to soldier Mahesh, who died in an avalanche at Siachen.

The drizzle that started during the performance of ‘Nadhigalu Thumbi hariyali’ failed to dampen the spirits of the audience who had gathered in large numbers.
