State government on Wednesday issued an order of suspension of Yuvaraja College Principal H N Nanjegowda for neglecting its orders on the alleged appointment of temporary assistant professors.
The suspension of Nanjegowda comes a day after the Registrar (Administration), University of Mysore, C Basavaraju was suspended on the charges of dereliction of duty. The college allegedly appointed the temporary assistant professors despite two warning orders issued from the government.
The Higher Education Department had red- signalled the appointment process in the college by issuing a letter to stop the recruitment. But the college went ahead with the interviews despite repeated reminders not to proceed further.
The letter issued by the department to the college said the process was in violation of guidelines set by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The government had also asked the UoM to submit a detailed report on the process to ensure whether all the rules were fulfilled in the temporary recruitment. Subsequently, a group of temporary lecturers working in the Yuvaraja College approached the High Court for a stay on the recruitment, saying they were not considered during the recruitment process.
Rajanna takes charge: Following the suspension of Basavaraju, the government has appointed Prof Rajanna, Registrar, Evaluation, UoM, as the successor of C Basavaraju.
