University of Mysore authorities on Tuesday relieved all assistant professors who were recently appointed on contract basis at Yuvaraja’s College.
Following the direction of the Higher Education Department’s Deputy Secretary, UoM Registrar Rajana passed an order withdrawing the appointment of all 64 candidates recruited as assistant professors at Yuvaraja’s college. Following widespread criticism from various quarters against the recruitment process stating that it has violated the policies of the state government, the Deputy Secretary had written a letter to Registrar to dismiss all the selected candidates.
The incident came to light on Tuesday, the authorities of UoM and Yuvaraja’s College have not just violated the recruitment process but also violated their own notification by selecting 64 candidates against the prescribed 48 posts. The issue came to the fore after the Registrar disclosed the complete list of candidates recruited recently by the college in his withdrawal order.
Stay on Registrar’s suspension
The High court on Tuesday gave a stay on the order passed by the Higher Education Department which suspended UoM Registrar C Basavaraju over alleged violations made in Yuvaraja’s College recruitment process. Justice Raghavendra S Chauhan granted an interim order and asked the government to file objections if any.
