Mysuru, May 24:- “The Mango and Jackfruit Mela is being organised to make sure that the farmers get good price for the crops and the consumers get better quality mango,” said Zilla Panchayat chief executive officer (CEO) K Jyothi.
“The mango season has begun. Farmers of the district have grown mango at their farms. Like every year, this year too we have started the mango fair to provide a platform for the growers,” Jyothi said.
“This is a consumer-friendly fair. Customers should get better quality mango. Farmers too should get profit for their hard work. We have permitted naturally ripened mangoes. 42 shops have been set up. Food safety officers check the fruits whether they are naturally ripened or chemically ripened. About 15 varieties of mangoes are being sold at the fair,” she added.
