Mysuru, February 26:- Janata Dal (Secular) candidate Parimala Shyam has been elected as the president of the Mysuru Zilla Panchayat. Gowramma Somashekar of the Congress has been elected as the vice president. Both the candidates were elected unanimously.
After JD(S) broke its alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and joined hands with Congress in a late-night development on Friday, Parimala was unanimously elected in the elections held today.
For the post of vice president, Gowramma and Gurumurthy from BJP had filed nominations. In the end, Gurumurthy took back his nomination which allowed Gowramma to grab the post.
Regional Commissioner Yashwanth, who worked as the election officer and assistant election officer Roopa and Zilla Panchayat CEO K Jyothi were present.
Karntaka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) women’s wing president Dr Pushpa B Amaranath congratulated both the winners. (MR/KS).
